After my excursion to south Texas; i came back home and found myself going a bit insane and obsessed with honey bees. early 2014 after dedicating my life to only making money through art, i began a campaign titled iii of cups clothing + art project to raise awareness of the importance of honey bees, and how our government is slowly killing them and our lovely hood as inhabitants of this earth. i started the funding of this project by selling my artwork. the entire year of 2014 i dedicated my only income of money through the making and selling of artwork by Leeaux.
August 2014 my team called THE TRAINEES composed of highly talented artists of Shreveport, LA (Ben Moss, John Lomax, Jeromie Journell, & Kedrick Williams) won a grand prize of $10,000 for an art battle. Shortly after that I moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to just have a breath of fresh air. I lived there for 5 months. It was fantastic and a spiritual journey none the less. Finding myself as an artists and finding value in what I took for granted.
Later I relocated to Shreveport again and started a concert series called PORTCULTURE because there were not that many great happenings taking place in that city and I wanted to keep the community busy. I wanted to be a catalyst which in fact I was.
It was taken for granted in my eyes as it got closer to August of 2015. The support fell because rumors began that I stole money, something so petty and false slowly got to me, for i have always been a supporter of the arts.
I wanted to turn a cold shoulder and be the bigger man, but I was getting offered positions to work with the city on a few events, but it would of been pointless due to the lack of community support, I was lost in a sense and only found solace through my art…
I packed my bags and left for New Orleans as the water began to rise from the lack of appreciation. I mean this to not point fingers or sound upset, but to just state the truth. it was heart breaking to say the least but it’s something i learned from.
i am grateful for the experience that was given to me, i still have missed a ton of highlights that i regretfully have been posting to facebook, where everything is lost and forgotten.
there is so much more to this story… i couldn’t possibly share it all in this post. you can learn about the ins and outs of my journey through my previous original content blog at www.jaredthelion.tumblr.com
the idea and goal of sharing this recently is to let a window open of my past in order to grow and better my future. noticing the mistakes i’ve made and learning from them,
after today i will be constantly publishing and updating this website,
thank you for your time,
