i laugh in thought knowing that my stress means nothing. i laugh knowing that i’m doing exactly what i’m here to do- to inspire. imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, or something like that- and i’ve already left an impact in the art scene within a year here. i need to own it really, which is what my friend Justin Parker told me a long time ago. “Don’t be afraid-be the target, and own it”
yeah it’s been hectic but it’s something easily controllable when i take the time to think about it. it’s do or die this year. hopefully this art life takes me where i want to be. maybe i need to share it with more people, maybe i need to see more places. who knows.
the plus side of this- i have been building a network of musicians and artists under the entity PORTCULTURE. essentially it’s a collective of extremely talented people i know personally and even grow to know after meeting. i’m ready to take the project further, set a solid plan, and take some action this year.
i developed a program in partnership with a historic venue in New Orleans, also started a few pop up art shows at this cafe called The Rook Cafe, i also started relationships with Art Egg Studios helping with their farmers market Marche Creole. so all of these are very great outlets for the network i have been building and i’m really looking forward to building out of New Orleans with this growing project.
