Time is an interesting anomaly or rarity of man-made merits we consume ourselves with.
Growing up I have been the type of person who has held more of an interest in the culture of societies and various pockets of surrounding cities. I would adventure timelessly through each realm and begin building a connection within the heart of it. From Shreveport to Dallas Fort Worth, to Little Rock, to New Orleans, I always surrounded myself with their art cults (#artcvlt).
Over the years I have been involved with numerous projects//activities involving event organizing, event branding, artist management, artist counseling, artist branding, organizational marketing, music promotion, and a few more artistic related relationships. I have been able to meet a ton of just genuine and loving persons from each pocket of culture who passionately support the arts.
The only means of funding for myself was my artwork. Also I had value of knowledge and experiences relating to the arts. Mainly, my illustrations helped me put food on my table, where ever I may be. Event planning didn’t really supply my needs in my early phases, which it shouldn’t, it was a means to share my product at events initially, then it turned into all sorts of organizational opportunity.
The Shreveport Regional Arts Council in Shreveport, Louisiana was an organization that helped me blossom in the art world. It was a living experience of growing as an artist, learning how enterprise and business plays a role in the arts, (Graduate of the Artist Entrepreneurial Training Program, thank you Vickie Marshall I love you) and direct hands on real life examples of turning an idea into a movement. The community of creators that unfolded was unique in its own. I wanted to impact the culture with fresh ideas and an exciting take on subculture.
Realizing my potential and opportunity, I thought maybe I should explore the world around me. Be like the Lion that I am and roam. Out of nowhere I awoke in New Orleans, Louisiana over night. The powers that be aligned their wands and brought me through a portal into the next chapter of my life.
I relocated to the closest city that held opportunity for the arts. Since December 2013 I promised myself to only make money from drawing, my gift, make it my lifestyle. A ton of people didn’t think it would benefit me. A few thought that this was a child’s dream. I was appalled to know I had friends with defeated mindsets. I believe you can accomplish anything you set your mind to if you really wanted it.
Passion only helped me mold myself into being a greater illustrator. For every one person who doubted me, came twenty plus friends who supported and began collecting my artwork.
That seriously is the most beautiful thing to have happen for a visual artist.
Now, I have my art hanging across the country thanks to a huge family of arts that was built from this quest.
On August 3rd, 2016 I signed a contract with Where Y’Art to begin my chapter with them. Joining with Where Y’Art comes with showing in their gallery spaces, a store front for collectors to find my work, which will bring more opportunities to surface in the New Orleans arts community.
I am really thrilled to have come this far, this is just one step for the many to come after this. In less than a year I was able to enter this art community and hit the ground running.
If you’re reading this, thank you. Thank you for buying a print from me when you found a connection to me or my work. Thank you for letting me sleep on your couch. Thank you for buying me food. Thanks for including my story into your life.
As well as my excitement for signing with Where Y’art, this publication is geared to announce the final volume of the Armageddon Collection. In October 2015 I created a brand called Cvlt Aesthetics, which was geared for a raw unfiltered arts message. It was by artists, for artists. My message is to eliminate the borders that divided us mentally. Art is what brings people together regardless of dogma or ethnicity.
Today I am releasing the final volume of the Armageddon Collection.
