i’m floating among cosmic pipe dreams of success. i’m able to live and share my artwork in a city where it’s being taken seriously. i have to say that it’s a blessing to have come this far.
to my readers who are keeping track of this, you make this story interesting. i’m constantly aiming to accomplish some outlandish task every month.
yesterday was POBOY FEST and it was a really wonderful time. i got to enjoy my day just wandering through Oak Street. it was great seeing a new version of this street. totally amazed at how festivals come together here.
i’m also amazed at my friends in Goofy Froot, who reached their mark for their Kick Starter the very same day. props to them. i’m watching their story grow and unfold and that really makes me happy. success is all around us.
success is eating a “Hot Shrimp” PoBoy from Mellow Mushroom and engaging in the crowd of festival goers
success is working your hardest to get what exists in your mind into the physical world we live and tread in
success is taking your craft seriously and allowing for those who are able to help you to help you go further than you imagine
the one thing i enjoy about New Orleans is how mystical this place really is. it has a way of helping the right people cross paths at the right time. if you remain a float in your mental bubble of joy you will be surprised what that attracts into your life being here. i set out to get a chai in Midcity and i ended up in the French Quarter somehow. it’s actually to my surprise not only did i find a great chai but i ended up meeting a new soul-
believe it or not his name is Bob, isn’t he a handsome guy? he is a writer, lyricist, and drummer/musician. i happened upon him in cafe Envie and we kind of had this rad psychic connection going on. it was so refreshing to read his work about cosmic oneness, law of attraction, and being aware. we set out and enjoyed the first half of the day walking around the quarter. we stopped and said hello to the ladies at Where Y’Art. got a not your fathers root beer and talked about our dreams and goals.
hm we are going to Poboy Fest Sunday, you might see us if the stars align for it to be so.
the surreal sensations of magic and mystery blanketed over me as i opened the art submitted by Matthew Castellano for MAGIC BOX this morning. i entered the Rook Cafe in hopes of this brilliant mind’s works being there. it was like a treat for getting up early, having a peace of mind, and taking on the day with such relentless optimism.
Matthew Castellano is a minimalist fantasy painter and illustrator. his works really play into the cerebral parts of your mind that are somewhat “eerie”. (originally from Florida) this Little Rock based artist is portraying emotion through a stream of thought provoking characters who seem to often lack clothing, spherical heads, and are decorated with rituals, ironic symbolism, and much more.
our paths crossed when i was living in Little Rock, Arkansas for about five months. we became friends through friends who wanted to help me get connected with the art scene. i have been blessed to have a pal like him, i wanted to be his friend since i met him because of his artwork. i was a fan immediately. we clicked and he allowed me to join in on a group art show at Gallery 360 called ICEBOX. i think it was one of the first group art showings i have participated in aside from school showings! (i’ll fact check later)
MAGIC BOX is set for the entire month of November. Our reception is on 11.11.16 – at the Rook Cafe. Please come and be consumed.
so much has been taking place lately, some memories i don’t want to forget.
